From fresh organic Naga Basil leaves to Naga Spring Onions, enjoy cooking authentic Naga food infused with hot local spices that will tingle your taste buds. Meat lovers will not be disappointed as you try the all-time favorites such as the Smoked Pork with Bamboo Shoot , Pork with Raja Chilly and the Naga Ginger Chicken.
Don’t worry if you are a vegetarian and have few options in Nagaland, you will have an endless range of organic vegetables to choose from that will leave you wanting more. Let’s get Cookin’!
You will arrive at the hosts home where we will warmly greeted with a hot cuppa Phika Cha (Traditional black tea).
To warm up, we will start by explaining and introducing the various types of ingredients to be used for the day. Naga food is simple but delicious as we use a lot of local organic herbs and spices that has natural flavor enhancing properties. You will learn how to cook three dishes from scratch in a hands-on cooking class, that will last for 1-2 hours. The cooking area is simple, modest and very traditional. A wood-fired cooking stove is used to prepare all the meals, just like how it is traditionally done in the village. You will leave learning a great deal about Naga cuisine, ingredients, cooking styles and traditional culinary secrets!
